$10 Rebate on Select Disney Blu-ray Discs
Thu Feb 14, 2008 at 09:00 AM ETTags: High-Def Retailing, Disney (all tags)
If you've been considering upgrading your standard-def DVD editions of select Disney titles to Blu-ray, here's a deal to be on the look out for.
Here's how it works: included in some Blu-ray editions of several titles (including most recently, 'The Rock,' 'Crimson Tide' and 'Con Air') is an insert offering a $10 rebate for consumers who've purchased both the standard-def DVD edition *and* the Blu-ray edition of the same title.
In order to receive the rebate, you'll be required to send in the original proof-of-purchase tabs or UPC symbols from both versions of the same title, as well as a cash register receipt from the Blu-ray edition, imprinted with store name and dated between 1/8/08 and 12/31/08 with purchase price circled.
We should stress that an original version of the insert is required in order to qualify for the rebate (not a photocopy), and not all Blu-ray editions of a given title include the insert. (The best way to assure that the version you're purchasing includes the insert is to look for a sticker on the packaging indicating the rebate.)
The insert states that consumers should expect to receive the rebate in six to eight weeks.
When asked about rebate program and whether the studio had any plans to expand it, a Disney rep told us that the studio does not comment on sales initiatives or strategies.
