In the third delay in less than four months, Sony has pushed
back the debut of its first Blu-ray disc player to the Fall, reports Video
Business.Sony's highly-anticipated BDP-S1 Blu-ray player was originally expected to arrive this month simultaneously with the launch of the company's first Blu-ray disc titles. The deck was then subsequently pushed back to July, then August. It is now expected to hit stores in October, due to a "product software issue" a spokesperson for Sony announced today.
"It’s not up to the standards that they wanted, so they are still engineering [it]," the spokesman told VB.
The BDP-S1's $999 list price and technical specifications are expected to remain unchanged, the company also said.
