Fox Home Entertainment has announced an October bow for the blockbuster romance-adventure 'Romancing the Stone' and its sequel, 'The Jewel of the Nile.'
Starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner as mismatched lovers in search of an ancient hidden treasure, 'Romancing the Stone' propelled Turner to superstardom and gave director Robert Zemeckis his first bona fide box office smash. Fox will give the film its next-gen debut on October 14, bringing along with it the film's less well-received sequel 'The Jewel of the Nile' (also starring Douglas and Turner).
Both stand-alone releases will receive the BD-50 dual-layer treatment, with 1080p/AVC MPEG-4 video and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround sound.
There's no word yet on supplements, but the full media release is due in the coming days, so we'll keep you posted.
Suggested retail for the Blu-rays has been set at $39.95 a pop.
You'll find preliminary specs for 'Romancing the Stone' and 'The Jewel of the Nile' linked from our Blu-ray Release Schedule, where they're indexed under October 14.
