Lionsgate Bumps Third Wave of Blu-ray Titles
Wed Sep 27, 2006 at 04:39 PM ETTags: Disc Announcements, Lionsgate (all tags)
With only two weeks to go until street date, Lionsgate has postponed its
third wave of Blu-ray titles, which were originally due in stores October 17.
All four titles -- 'American Psycho,' 'First Blood,' 'Saw II ' and 'Young Guns ' -- have been yanked by the studio until at least "early 2007."
Though Lionsgate has not given an official reason for the delay, rumors have begun to circulate that the studio pulled the titles to switch from the MPEG-2 compression codec to VC-1, as well as add more bonus features. However, Lionsgate would not confirm nor deny the reports.
We'll keep you posted on a new street date as soon as it is announced, and in the meantime, we've moved the titles to the "Release Dates Postponed" section of our Blu-ray Release Schedule.
